Rotarian Blood Drive Coordinator Jim Watson, reports another successful drive held on Saturday December 11, held at fire station #1 next top City Hall.  Rotarians assisting Jim were Tom Chunis, Ralph Polachek, Sue Wolf and Dick Sanders.

We had 24 people fill out the forms to donate blood. Out of the 24, we had 21 accepted and 3 deferrals. We had several no shows due to the inclement weather.

Seen donating from the city were City Clerk Scott Burkhardt, Mickey Skyrsky from the Veterans Commission, Rotarian Sue Wolf, Rotarian John Keane and Jim Watson.

It was a great day. We had super help from Tom Chunis, Dick Sanders, Ralph Polachek, Sue Wolf and Janelle Mitzner, wife of Dennis Mitzner, Chairman of the Oak Forest Crime Prevention Commission.

The Heartland staff consisted of Team Leaders Kristine Keller and Steven Bennett. Phlebotomist Gloria Ackerman, Allison Day, Charles Jones, John Sullivan, Christy Anderson, Wylie Finch, Patricia Marren and Jennifer Vieni. Excellent job done by all.

Major thanks to all who donated.

Special thanks to Mayor Hank Kuspa, Chrissy Maher for the Oak Forest ebriefs, Tami Kostecki, Chuck Toland and Rhonda Ceska for getting the word out and last but not least, Fire Chief Terry Lipinski and Deputy Fire Chief Charley Sopko and their crew for giving us the best of care.

The winner of the Battle of the Badges is once again...the Fire Department! Three cheers and a drum roll!

As I said, it was a great day considering inclement weather.

My sincere thank you to all.

Be well and stay well,

Jim Watson  Author
